Is This Even Right?

ok i got a 94 f-150 4.9 4x4 e4od and my friend has a 96. when i got the truck the tranny was acting weird shift hard and stuff. Well my friend said his tranny was doing the same thing and he got his CAMSHAFT POSTION SENSOR changed and the tranny is perfect now he says, he has been know to bullcrap,.....so my question is, would this part being bad and replaced make the e4od work normal like he says? should i do it?....thanks you

The CPS sends engine RPM data to the PCM. The PCM uses this to control the engine and transmission. If the signal is bad the trans won't work right, but I would also expect engine problems, too, unless your friend's truck is an IDI diesel. Those had a CPS that only was used by the trans.

The CPS has nothing to do with the engine on a '94 diesel. It's only there for the transmission.
