I have a C6 transmission. I would like to know if anybody knows who makes a shift improver kit for it besides B and M. I would like to have firm shifts and even bark the tires when I floor it.
i just had my C-6 rebuilt. the guy who did it has been doing them for abou 20 years, so i am taking his word for it. he told me that for the c6 your best bet is to get a new valve body i got mine from TCI
performance the one i got was the manual/automatic valve body. i paid about $120.00 for it complete. TCI flow tests each one before sending them out to make sure they work properly. in my 65, 352FE, C6, 9" with 4.10's,detroit locker and 35" tires i have to
hold on tight each time it shifts from first to second.
The B&M Shift Improver kit works very good in the C-6, I have installed several of them in the C-6's with good results. Set it up on the highest mode (I think street-strip) and it will shift very firm. Don't put it in a weak transmission though. I had a 78 F-150 4x4 that was my Dads truck which he bought new. I put one of these kits in it when it had about 40K on it, my Daughter and Son-inlaw have it now, it has 214K on it and its never been rebuilt. And it still shifts good. But we changed the fluid and filter yearly also. The others I did for other people after they rode in my Dads truck.
I have to agree with Superdave. I have a B&M in my C-6 and i love it. I shifts hard when i floor it and runs the gears out longer. Also you cant beat the cost. It also donsnt take a rocket science degree to install. Very simple and is very interesting on how it works. I think it was on of the best up grades i put in the ol' FORD! My 2 cents!
