Ford Part Numbers

I see that the part number for the front brake cable is C5TZ2853P, however in the parts catalog diagram it only shows the 4 digits, (2853). How do you locate the entire part number?

For instance, the wheel bearing dust caps are part number 1131. How do I locate the rest of the Ford number?

Your parts CD shows: LF1131A. But...there's more to it than that...read on.

How do I locate the rest of the Ford number?
Pick one: Tea leaves, tarot cards, osmosis, psychic reader, crystal ball!

Sorry...I couldn't resist!

You use the Illustration section of the parts catalog to find the basic part number: 1131 / 2853.

Then by using the Text section, locate the basic number, then find out which one fits your application.

VOILA! You now have the complete part number.

But do not assume that any part number was used past 1975, the last printing of the catalog the CD was scanned from.

Ford updates 10's of 1000's of part numbers a year, so the number you just found might have been replaced later.

If you want to be sure before hunting for a particular part number..contact me...I have all the Ford OSI * catalogs, so I can verify if the same part number was used past 1975.

* O.S.I. = Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange catalogs.

btw: C5TZ2863P was never updated, it's now obsolete.

LF1131A has been updated. It's now LF1131B and is still available from Ford.

MSRP each: $3.50 / FTEpartsguy.com price each: $2.52.

Bill,

For several years the same front and rear fenders were used as well as the hood, (64-66). What are the part numbers for my '65, rear fenders, front fenders, hood? Did they change the number each year?

Off the cuff...

CITZ16612Z .. Hood / Fits: 1961/66 F100/750

C2TZ16005E .. Right Front Fender

C2TZ16006E .. Left Front Fender

These two part numbers replaced the original 1961 part numbers in 1962.

Fits: 1961/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD.

You have an ice cream truck with a special body, correct?

I have no klew what rear fenders were used.

Well that answers my problem, my Parts Catalog only has the Illustration Section, no Text Section.

Ya...can you imagine if they put the full p/n in the illustration catalog...yikes...Bill and the many other parts guys would have gone bald in record time from pulling their hair out....BUT the cool thing is, is that even 60 years or so later Ford STILL uses the SAME basic numbering system...the prefix system got changed to something I and I believe Bill will be scratching our heads about for years....I would LOVE to know the reason behind the new prefix system....its soooooo confusing and to me, makes no sense...

Ford has used the same parts numbering system since the Model N of 1907/08. The N preceded the T.

I still have all my hair...but lost my sanity (and patience) years ago waiting on beetle brained pinheads at parts counters.

F250GH: You can buy a CD of the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog from hipoparts.com for around 22 bucks.

While cs65 and I have the paper catalogs, we also use this same CD.

Is the printed text section as big as the illustrated? Would like to find a printed text version. I will also order the CD.
