I'm putting new weatherstripping on my doors. Question is I tried a little on another painted surface and it wiped the paint right off. I'm using 3M Super weatherstrip & Gasket adhesive should i be worried about this or does it set eventually, or do i need to use something else. I don't want to ruin the new paint on the doors but heard that this is the best stuff to use.

I never heard of 3M adhesive affecting paint finishes.
When you install the weatherstripping (DO NOT remove the doors!), use masking tape to keep it in place, especially at the corners.
Close the doors till the latch just touches the striker plate, and let adhesive dry.
Make sure the dome lamp bulb is removed, so the battery won't go dead.
Thank you Thank you Thank you I bought the JC Whitney rubber and wasn't sure where to put the seam that helps. Oh yea thats why i'm putting new doors on those were plugged and the window seals were gone so i've got some really really rusty doors if anyone wants to put new panels on them and do some welding. Which brings up another point. Do all these doors split at the bottom of the window inside and what causes that? Almost every truck i've seen is split or getting ready to, prob the only way to fix is to weld eh?
Thanks again guys, your'e a big help and it's nice to know your there.
