Thumbs down Projecter Head Lamps

Quick question......on the '06 Explorer, Limited, were the headlamps, projecter lamps? I remember that they were the brightest I have ever had. I'm going to be changing the lamps on my Expedition and I only want to do it once...........

No they were not a projector style headlamp.. they were a basic diamond-cut reflective background with the crystal clear lenses with much larger lenses and reflectors than the previous X's .... I have a 00 X EB and mine are the same minus the larger opening and i don't have the clear smooth lenses like the 06 does.. here is a link to a picture of the 06 limited headlamps!

I tried the new Halogen White this and that.. I also tried 1 HID set-up which was bright as heck but rendered me w/o high/low beams.. it was just one setting.

The ones i have had for about the past 8 months are a 8000K set with High/Low in which the bulb has an actuator..since HID's are a single filament they do not have the low filament and high(like standard Halogen bulbs).. so the bulb is required to move up/down.... I purchased them on E-bay for around $120 (i believe they are cheaper now) and are a simple install.. These are extremely bright and i love them! Mine have "Xentec" stickers on the converter units if this helps.. I did alot of reading before making my purchase so i knew what to look for and what not to.

If you should have any questions you can ask here or feel free to message me..Hope this helps you.

There is a company that supports one of the other forums I am a member of that is making the HID kits and is in the process of making a projector kit. From what I understand, there will be some modifications to the housing to make the projector kit work, but from my reading so far, it iis nothing too extreme. He has regular HID kits also and the members that have purchased from him seem to be very happy with the kits he sells. If you look on the site and look at customer's rides, they are all Explorers...

If you are in the market, they might be worth checking out: RSI Motorsports
