2 Threads in 1!

I drive a 00 X EB AWD 5.0.

First question.. I drive some twisting roads that aren't the smoothest and my rear end seems to sway alot when i get one of those turns with a bump in the bend of it.. I checked the rear sway bar links and noticed a gap between the link bushings and the sway bar itself of about 3/16th's of an inch.. will the price of me buying and replacing the links myself be worth the payoff?

Second Question... My door ajar light is always on.. from posting before.. someone had said there are sensors within the door latches themselves and sometimes they get dirty.. they suggested to spray them down with WD-40 or something similar.. I have tried this numerous times and sometimes it works for a few days but then its back.. I have not been able to pinpoint the problem to a specific door.. its random sometimes and seems it could be all of them haha.. Any other suggestions on solving this problem? I'm getting sick of making sure my dimmer is completely off when i exit my vehicle and then being able to see a darn thing.. I've been dealing with it for about a year now!

Any suggestions or opinions on these 2 questions would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Yes! Don't use WD40 it is a moisture dispersant, not a lubricant. Any residual will dry out in a day.

WD40 was originally designed for the electrical connections in the F104 fighter icing up and shorting, causing the flight controls to malfunction (widow maker).

Use a good penetrating/flushing lubricant.

Yes, new links on the sway bar can make a world of difference. I recommend Energy bushings. They have worked great for me - both front and rear. I would also suggest checking out the Explorer Express sway bars. Since yours is a 2000, the front might not help as much, but their rear bar will make a big difference.

I've never had to replace the sensor. Mine started doing it a few years ago. I went to Radio Shack and bought some electronics cleaner in spray. A few coats with it and mine has never stuck again. Don't know if I'm just lucky or if it really works that great, but it is worth a shot. Definitely do not use WD40 like aquanut said.

As of right now i cannot afford to upgrade my sway bars..I can replace the links with oem's... believe me i would love to,but its just not an option!

As for the Door sensors... since they're right inside the latch somewhere.. i could see a potential problem if i used lets say Liquid Wrench or Carb,TB cleaner or something of that sort..I would be stripping the grease/lube right off of the latches inner workings... I think I will try that electronics Cleaner you meantioned CobraXP!

Thanks for your help guys,

Wally world sells electronics cleaner in the auto area. It comes in a red spray can.

Ok.. well i've used almost the whole can of the Elecrtical Parts Cleaner from Wally World.. the stuff in the "red can".. after using almost all of it and spraying until the fluid came out of the bottm of the doors clear... i had asumed i had cleaned pretty much everything including half my arm... hehe but..

The door ajr lights are still on! It's tickin me off.. always having to have my dimmer completely off and what not.. lights not coming on when i unlock.. i have to wait until i start driving to turn the dimmer up to see the gauges.. and then turning it all the way off when i finish driving so as to not kill the battery with all the interior/exterior lights staying on..

Any other suggestions before i tear 5 door panels off? LOL
