i cant stand how everyone thinks the confederate battle flag is racist. ITS NOT! certain groups use it to promote racism. its just some peoples ignorance that ruins it for all of us. it truly promotes the southern way of life

Oh yeah, sorry to hear about your truck.
ya there are people that dont like americans and there are people that dont agree with religion but the differance is that they are not offended by these things things they simply dont like them. the confederate flag on the other hand is the symbol of countless extemist groups and has a strong accociation with racism. And dont hand me that bull**** that it isnt, are you guys trying to tell me that the civil war had nothing to do with slavery?

I know you guys are going to jump on my post saying that your not racist and i understand that but its still not going to change my view on the matter

1.I will hand you that bull.It is not our fault that extremist groups use the confederate flag.No extremist group uses it as a symbol of racism. They are southerners, and along with their Extremist group flag, they also fly the confederate, showing their heritage. You might as well say the African flag is racist, because the Black Panthers flew it along with their group flag.

2.Yes,I am telling you that the Civil War had barely anything to do with slavery.Lincoln and the Union were greedy.Without the southern states being in the union, they would lose their cotton supply. They were also losing money because southerners were buying goods from England.Lincoln and his forces decided to tell everyone that the war was over slavery,to one, cover up his greed, and two,to gain support from the african americans.Do not forget that there were african americans who fought on the confederate side also.

It's only been in the last 10 years that the Confederate Flag has been thought of as a symbol of hate.

20 years ago it would not have been uncommon to see the confederate flag flown with the American Flag, and state flag on the government buildings of the southern states.

I account this change of attitude toward the Confederate flag mainly the fault of television and movies always showing the flag in a negative light.

As for example, the show Dukes of Hazzard isn't racist at all, but I bet you if the show was made today for the first time, it wouldn't last a month due to preconceptions.

The meaning of symbols change over time, and unfortunately, the Confederate Flag is changing toward a negative one. I don't agree with it, but it's happening.

K. well i guess all of history was wrong, the civil war didnt have to do with slavery, fordtruckman said so! And if you read my original post i never said the the flag is a sole representation of slavery. I was simply pointing out that it makes your truck stand out to a person that obviosly has nothing better to do with their time then to destroy others property.

yeh the civil war was also over states rights to make some of there own laws. now granted this did include having the right to hold slaves but that was just a tag along. but basically a few bad apples ruin the whole basket.

I did not say so,the History Books all say so.

And no,you didn't say that it was a representation of slavery, but you did say it was a representation of racism, which is completely false. And I understand that you were trying point something out,but when you post something like this...

"the confederate flag on the other hand is the symbol of countless extemist groups and has a strong accociation with racism. And dont hand me that bull**** that it isnt, are you guys trying to tell me that the civil war had nothing to do with slavery? "

You can't say you're not gonna get some people negatively replyin back to it.

ok i stand corrected it isnt a representation of racism, it is simply associated with racism. i understand where you guys are coming from, but you have to admit it is a controversial issue and that the symbol represents different things to different people

Ok now you've got it sorta right. It's only associated to racism by those who don't know the true history of the Confederate Flag and what it really stands for. This site is worth checking out for any who still think the rebel flag is racist because certain extremist groups fly it.This site also reveals another flag one extremist group flies.

The other flag
