Isuzu P/s Box

I have a 1988 ISUZU TROOPER 4X4 P/S BOX
that i used on my 53 mercury convertible
i dont know if this will work on my 51 F1 or not.
it fit real good on my convertible, even the pitman
arm bolted up to the drag link.I see that a lot of guys
use the toyota box.I am not good at this so I have
to have a lot done for me.Right now i am having a
real good time driving my stock 51 F1-V8-3 sp.
If anyone wants a picture of a ISUZU P/S box
you can e-mail me at bob5740@verizon.net.
I still dont know how to post pictures yet,
so maybe someone can post them for others to see.
I am sorry that i made this so long, but i am
still learning. Thanks BOB

That would take a lot of work to make it work on an F-1.

Albuq is right, The pitman arm is in the wrong position and would require some serious modification with the draglink arm to work properly, among other things that may not fit.

The angle of the dangle is all wrong
I don't see how you could mount it the way the blot mount block is aligned.

when you get to compare the 2 boxes you will understand why they use the toyota 4x4 box, the one pictured has some applications i can see for cars.

If I'm not mistaken, that is a Saginaw box, same as used on many Chevies.

the toyota box i can see why everyone is
using it.there is no way that the izusu box is
going to work on the f1.like i said before i used
this box on my 53 merc ragtop & it worked out
great.this is a good box for 52-53-54 ford & merc
it might even fit a 55 & 56 .it will not fit a 51
sorry for all the confusion guys, but i am still learning
well at least now you have some new info.

That box likely would be a good choice for that era Ford or Merc sedan. They were independent front suspension, so the pitman shaft ran vertical which then had the pitman arm swinging horizontal and the drag link ran across the width of the car to the tie rod on the other side. On our beam axle pickups the pitman shaft is mounted horizontally thru the frame and the pitman arm swings on a vertical plane. The drag link is short and runs parallel to the frame to the steering arm on driver's side spindle. When the shaft that connects to the steering wheel turns clockwise (right turn) the pitman shaft must turn counter clockwise (looking at the end of the shaft). Almost all steering boxes made for a cross steering setup turn the wrong way.

PS: no need to appologize, this is a friendly place and with all the possible parts out there we never know when someone might come across something none of us know about or have tried before! Heck the Toyota box is a fairly recent discovery.
