Sorry,

New to this site and have been reading a bunch. Just a little background. My Mother has a '03 with a 6.0 and has been having nothing but problems with the EGR system. Now it appears the turbo's letting go. My stepfather's not very mechanically nor computer saavy so after getting complaint after complaint from her I thought I would help try and fix her truck. They travel quite a bit and haul a fairly heavy trailer (business).

After searching I found this site and it seems to have a ton of people that are experienced with these trucks, so I'll throw out my plans.

EGR:
It seems the consensus is to either just unplug it or clean it very often. My plan was to just unplug it since neither of them would be of the mindset to clean it often. Good idea?

Turbo:
Just received a Turbo "upgrade" from Turbonetics and will be mating that with their intercooler upgrade from Spearco. I'll be using a Diablosport Predator w/ custom tune to hopefully tune it correctly.

I'm also upgrading the air box to a AEM unit and putting a Bassani aft cat on it.

I guess my question is does this sound like a good recipe and what are your thoughts on any obstacles I might face?

Keep in mind it's not my truck so I'm not all that familiar with it, just trying to help her not have any more headaches.

Welcome to the forums. I'm of no real help on this, but I will bump it to see if you get any action.

 

A lot of folks are saying here the standard airbox is great unless you are going for 450+HP and need volume of air. There is also a lot of talk here that the K&N filter system lets more air in because it doesn't do a good job of filtration which lets more contaminates into the engine.
