HELP! Check Engine Light Codes

I have a 93 F150 5.0 302 V8 4x4.
My check engine light started going on and off today. Here are the codes:

31-32-33

This is what I found on fordfuelinjection.com:

31-PFE or EVP circuit has intermittently failed below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts.

32-EVP circuit has intermittently failed below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts.

33-EGR valve opening not detected.

I'll be honest, I have no idea what any of that means. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again Lazy K.

You definitely have an EGR problem. Check the vacuum lines for cracks/breaks between the EGR valve and EVR solenoid.. it's over by the coil. The EVP just reports the EGR valve position back to the computer, and if it's not moving for whatever reason you'll get these codes.

If it is not affecting the driving of the truck then it is not serious at all. In fact if the CEL is only intermittant and does not annoy you then it is not a problem. However you might want to check, as suggested by Conanski, for a vacuum pipe leak as this could alter your engine performance. If all that is OK and the EGR valve is stuck closed you should be OK. Unless, of course, the truck needs to pass emissions. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a second opinion. Good luck.

The CEL annoys the hell out of me. How can I open up the EGR valve?

In my opinion the EGR valve is one of the stupidest devices ever invented, on a level with sunglasses for dogs. The purpose of the EGR valve is to feed exhaust gasses into the intake to reduce emissions. A really dumb idea. However read Conanskis post, he thinks your problem may be a defective vacuum pipe, so check that out. There is a sensor that tells the computer if the EGR valve has opened and how far, he thinks that maybe the EGR valve is stuck or otherwise not reporting its position to the sensor. So carry out the checks suggested by Conanski and you could also pull the EGR valve and clean it. If you do all this and find something wrong and fix it then clear the codes and drive it and make sure codes do not return. I know it is a PITA but just check everything.
