2000 Supercab XLT Off Road Pkg Flex Fuel
Ever since my $650.00 flex fuel sensor took a crap on me a few months ago, and brought out of retirement my '94 escort, my wallet seems to stay a lot fuller these days. I am seriously thinking about trading it in. I'm really in no need for it anymore, now that my son is done stock car racing and off to college. Consistantly 35 mpg with the 'scort. I like having my sporty rusty escort to cruise around in. 135,000 with a new clutch, replacing the ORIGINAL at 108,000, and you're usual maintanence items. So probably buh bye to the ranger sometime next year after recovering from rotator cuff surgery .
If you don't anticipate any type of hauling in the near future, then maybe dumping the Ranger might be a good idea in your situation. But on the other hand, aren't you going to have to disclose to any prospective buyer the flex-fuel-sensor issue? That might make it harder to sell. Have you looked for the sensor online?
I don't like to put the burden on somebody else. It will be fixed before it goes. That just ain't right to do that to someone. It's an easy fix, but just pricey.
Dump the ranger, have lost your mind?!!!!!!!!!! Just when gas is allmost free again ha ha. I can't wait untill my 09 FX4 comes in. I'm moving to W,Va in the spring up on our old mountain farm and and I'll sure need it. Good luck in whatever you decide to do and still visit us buddy!!!!!
i wish gas would keep going down, i could use a f/s bronco more than my ranger for the trailer i have but the rest of the time feeding the ranger would be easier than a 351. if dads '96 goes up for sale, i may put my truck on the market, towing would be so much easier, and bigger brakes wouldnt hurt things either. my "rig"- the '96 with 60K miles, 351/E4OD ive had bad luck with escorts, both were just over 100K and developed head gasket problems. one was a '81, the other a '92. the taurus is a good comprimise for me, i can get almost 30 highway and still have room. the 3.0 is perfect for this chassis. ive put a hitch on it, but havent done much with it as far as towing. ive heard it could spit the trans right out on the street. might use it in a pinch, but wouldnt want to pull my big trailer on a regular basis, even if its within the rated tow rating.
mainly the wife's craft sale stuff, but last weekend i was moving some concrete block with it. ive also moved firewood a few times. what with the ban on moving firewood in some parts of the state, its alot less noticeable to do it with a box trailer than in the back of a open pickup.
