Most of these suggestions are true for the 99-up Super Duty trucks. I'm not sure if they will work on your truck or not.
For future reference you might also want to ask around in this section of the forum.

It says it's for the 87-96 trucks, but it actually would cover the 97 F250 HD and 97 F350 as well since they were still the same body style/running gear (in 97 the F150 and F250 light duty were the new body style).

Then the signal wasn't from the key-in-ignition switch, since that signal doesn't go through any part of the MFS.
My suggestion above also applies to the 96 and 97 HD versions.

The problem though is the door buzzer bings all the time when the key is out or in, so regardless if the key is out the buzzer still bings when the door is open.. If I cut that wire how will it know if the key is in or out? Sounds like the buzzer will still bing all the time, or never bing at all from the door being open because it wont be able to differentiate between key in and key out??

The black and pink wire causes the chime to go off whenever that wire is grounded and the door is open. If the key is in the ignition it completes a circuit to ground, which makes the chime go off when you open the door. It sounds like the little switch on the ignition that grounds this wire has gone bad in your truck (that's probably why it shuts off if you jiggle the tumbler around like you said).
If you cut that wire off and tape up the end it can no longer be grounded, and the chime will no longer go off. So if you are afraid of leaving the keys in the ignition then you probably don't want to cut the wire. You will have to find out why the switch is grounding the wire all the time.

Door Chime Solved - No wire clipping necessary!
RE: Remove the lower column shroud, identify the black/pink wire, and clip it. Problem solved. You don't here to clip the wires. Use a four way screwdriver to unscrew upper then lower pat of steering column. On the bottom key side is the black and white wire. Just tug and it'll detach, without clipping anything! Screw back in steering column and you're set. It makes the door chime still awake upon opening door with key in accessory or turned back. But not out of ignition.
