Clutch probs

I have a friend that has a 91 f150 manual clutch that is on the floor and wont come off the floor unless he picks it up. He has to shut the truck off to get it into any gear. Is this a shot clutch. He said that when he pushes the pedal the rod moves into the clutch reservoir but nothing in the tranny moves. Thanks for the help in advance!!

....or clutch master cylinder. The Clutch is likely not the issue. Did it seem to work fine up until this point and then all the sudden there was a problem? Or did it slowly go out?

is there any fluid leaking out of the bottom of the transmission or from the clutch master cylinder? also, is the reservoir full?

Then its kind of hard to be too sure which is the problem. If I had to guess i would say that its the master cylinder do to the fact that if the master cylinder was working properly and the slave cylinder was not you would have a leak at the slave cylinder or you would at least see some movement, even if just a little, at the slave cylinder. The piston in the master cylinder must be leaking the fluid by allowing it to not send the fluid pressure to the slave cylinder.

My truck in is the shop right now for the slave cylinder. And it really ticks me off because I JUST had my clutch, pressure plate, and slave cylinder replaced less then 2 months ago. My bet is the slave cylinder because that is just like what happened to me.... one day it was fine the next day the pedal was to the floor. (i was late to school that day for sure) Well good luck let us know how it goes.
