what transmission?
i have a 1990 f150 4x4 and you may or may not have noticed that ive been doing some work turning it inot an off-road machine, and i have just recently completed(well thought i did). i have put alot of money sweat and blood into this truck to make it run smooth and tackle any terrain. i just recently noticed hard shifts when im driving to my mudding spot a buddy who was riding shhotgun felt it and every gear it seems like a hard shift, now im going to change the transmission fluid and filter but i cant seem to find what tranny i have the truck was stock when i bought it at least i thought it was. so if someone can tell me what tranny i have, or at least how to figure out it would be very much appreciated! thx in advance!

What's the shift pattern on the dash look like? PRN(D)D1 is AOD. PRN(D)21 with an overdrive switch on the dash is E4OD (later models had the cancel switch on the shift lever, but I had a 90...it's on the dash).
There is also a Ford tranny spotters guide in the articles section. Tells you the most reliable way to check, by looking at the bolt pattern on the pan.
