hey there ,well i out 35" tires on my truck, and went to recalibrate the speedo last night, i have the equipment for it so i paid ford for the program for a week, went to recalibrate, but i cant for that big of a tire, the revolutions per mile is too low about 601 i think it was, and it only allows for 644 to about 690 i think it was, so the closest i could get was a 32.5" tire roughly, which was right at the 644 mark, how far off do you think the speedo will be off, and also wondering if others have had ford recalibrate for 35's and if sodo you know if they were able to set specifically for 35's because i used same program and could not, also does a tuner allow for 35's as i do want one, either way for tunes and speedo recalibration. thanks
the shop i work at bought a programmer for reflashing pcm's ecm's whatever you want to call them, we have a blue point glogal programmer, or j2534 pass thru device, that is what is used to reflash/reprogram a pcm, you suscribe to whatever vehicle make you need to reflash, and it allows you to use there recalibrations and program to do so. i dont know if that helps, basically i am using fords program, so taking it to ford wont help, they would do the same as i did, they might say its calibrated for 35" tires but it wouldnt be, basically want to know if a edge or other tuner allows for 35" tires
yes, the Edge and 99% of the other tuners allow for any tire size corrections.
you have to convert the tire size to a metric # and that is input to the PCM.
try posting your question in the Programmers/Tuners section of FTE. there is most likely someone in there who knows exactly what instrument you are using and can tell you exactly how to correct the speedo
