Hey all,I have a 2000 F250 4x4 with the 7.3. I want to replace the factory manual hubs with some new warn hubs-is this a pretty straight forward job or should I have a mechanic install them?
Thanks.
The only "gotcha" might be that they rattle over bumps after you're done. If they do, contact Warn, they will send you a second set of snap rings that you add to the original ones, and that keeps it from moving around.
and they are shorter than the stock hubs, so if you use hubcaps on your mag wheels, you will have to change the fronts over to the 2005 front caps, otherwise the hubs will sit about 1 1/2 inch inside the cap. the 2005 caps fit the warn hubs perfectly.
Yeah, we had a discussion about this a year or two ago. Some people said "big gap", me and a few others "no gap" - common thread was the steel vs. alloys. The alloys are thicker, so the hub sits further inside the cap.
I use a pair of pliers with rubber coated handles to turn the hub.
i make a "key" out of PVC pipe for locking and unlocking the hubs. it only cost about $3 to make, and is very handy for hard to turn hubs, or when you have gloves on in the winter and the wheel in hub deep in snow.
thanks to all the info in this site is great should have been a member years ago installed my warn hubs 20 minutes ago 4x4 is working bypassed all esof componets but vacuum pump is still running all a/c controlles are functioning fine any suggestions
Hey guys I just purchased a set of warn hub lockers for my '00 f350, I installed them as all the very straight forward instructions say. However, with it all together I can slide the whole assembly in and out of the hub about 1/4 of an inch- making a gap and compromising the seal. The movement is between the inner mechanism on the lock and the snap ring. So now I'm confused as to why this may be.. any ideas??
