Question ranger heater box?????

i want to remove the air box from my ranger (the big one next to the fan) can i do this and still have heat it if so how should i go about doing this? is a 90 ranger with a 2.9

If that is the one in the engine compartment, I think that you won't have an effective heating system as that is part of the heater/defroster plenum. Or if it is an AC equipped vehicle you can swap it out with a non AC plenum and free up some space in the engine compartment. I intent on doing this with my '88 at some point but haven't as yet.
