Autometer gauge pod

I bought a pillar mount Autometer gauge pod to put a tach. and tranny temp gauge in my 96 F250. When I try to mount the pod the studs on the gauges hit the pillar and will not let the pod sit flush with the pillar. Has anyone ever run into this? How did you solve it? Thought about cutting a hole on either side of the steering wheel and mounting them in the dash, would there be enough clerance for that?

Thanks, Jordan

I wouldn't cut up the dash for that! Do you have the 2 or 3 gauge pod? I don't know of a tach that will fit in it.

It is a 2-gauge pod. 2 1/16 gauges.

What brand are the gauges you have? Gauges such as oil pressure, temp, trans temp, etc will fit the pillar pod. I don't think there is a tach that is the same size as the guages and small enough tach to fit in it. Did you find one? A friend of mine has an AutoMeter gauge pod in his truck and it fits just fine.

I have the tach already. The pod will not fit up there with either gauge, they both hit. I will try to take some pix in the daylight. The pod fits fine, its just the gauges hit when trying to mount the pod.
