I'm thinking of going with Ground Hawgs for my next set of tires. Does anyone have any info on these? Like what kinda mileage I can expect out of them.Or how they do on and off road.
I've got the new Yokohama Geolandar M/T's on it now and they are perty good tires. They are great in most terrains but I'm just trying different tires till I find a brand that I wanna stick with.
pik- are you looking at radials or biasply ? I ran bias ply hawgs, 35 tall and 14 and 1/2 wide for a couple of years. Off road they were fine, no trouble in the mud or on the sand dunes. On the road they howl very loud, especially if the air pressure is low, like when you just get off the dunes. My wife could hear me driving home on the freeway about a 1/4 mile from the house. In very cold weather, like below zero, those tires are going to feel like they are squares until you have driven a few miles to soften them up. Also they try to float on snow because they are so wide, they did not leave me stuck, but the truck wandered alot and required constant steering input. Since snow driving was a big concern for me, I have now switched to bfg mud terrains, 35x12.50 on eight inch rims. The new ones cut down thru the snow to the road below. What are you planning to do with your hawgs? DF
Well there's not too much snow down here in southeast Texas. I drive on the highway a lot because I live in Houston but I like the mud and sandy river bottoms. I cant afford the steel belted radial so i'll get the nonradial. If you want a tire that digs straight down through snow try these Yokohamas. They look for hard ground.
i have a set of 40x17" ground hawgs on my truck and i find them to be quiter than the swampers i had previous, performance is just as good if not better, pricey? yes
