Time for new tires soon. Truck was delivered with Pirelli Scorpions, which apparently have best wet traction according to Consumer Reports. Michelins apparently better in snow. Anyone had both on an F150 and is there a real difference?
I will go with Michelin pretty much every day of the week. I do not have experience with that particular Michelin model though (think it is only a year or two old). My $0.02....
I don't have any experience with those specific tires, but you can't go wrong with Michelin's. They have the best quality control of any manufacturer. I put a set on the wife's Expy almost 2 years ago and 40K miles later they don't look any different.
I would go with the Michelins as well. I have the Pirelli's on mine now and hate them. They have to be one of the worst tires out there. Read the reviews on them first. They flat spot overnight and shake when it's cold. First and only set I will ever by of Pirelli's!!!

They do get flat spots in them if you leave the pressure at 35psi as Ford recommends. Pirelli however, says the proper pressure is 44psi. I inflate to 40psi and don't get morning shudders anymore. I will say I've been alot happier with the scorpions than I thought I'd be. I haven't had much luck with Ford factory tires...at least these haven't been recalled like all the other tires I've had from the dealer.
I will have to inflate them to 40psi and see what it does. Thanks for the tip. I will say this about the Pirelli's, they don't wear fast. I have 10K on them and the tread still looks new.
I'd have to also say the michelins...i've had my michelin ltx m/s 's on my truck now for about 4 months or so...and now have 13K miles on them....best tires i've ever had... and now they still measure out at 11.5/32's they came with 13/32....
I've got the Pirelli Scorpion ATR in 275/55/20. Excellent dry and wet traction. Quiet. I will buy again! The Michelin LTX M/S are good tires too.....but they cost $236 per tire in my size. I can get the Pirellis for $114 (less then half the cost of the Michelins).
Here are reviews on specific tires....the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's have excellent reviews as do the Michelin LTX M/S.
If you want a good All Season Highway tire....check out the Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G051. Many reviews state they are equals to the Michelins at a much better price.
they are very expensive...but have you ever had a pair?
I put over 40,000 miles on a set of 265x??x16's. when I sold the vehicle, they still had 1/2 the tread or better and I went offroading with them all the time in places a M/T would have been better suited for.
For the money, Michelin makes the best tires on the market.
It is just a matter of how you want to spend the money. Spend it up front and get a tire that will last forever...or go about it cheaply and replace your tires more frequently. You spend the same $$$ either way. Just at different points
Tylus is correct, money up front or more money down the road. They make the best tires because their quality control is the best. Michelin actual has a business unit that teaches other industries how to implement and manage quality procedures. Yes, they cost more but you get what you pay for...
