I have to agree with you 100%. Whenever I can I try to buy U.S. or Canadian products. Our economies are tied so closely together that if either economy runs into any problems it effects the other. More so yours with ours due to the sheer size of the U.S. compared to Canada. You suffer and we suffer right along with you. I do sometimes buy Chinese made engines for my RC planes, but it is hard not to when they cost half what a North American engine costs. Problem is our wages have gotten so high and labor is so cheap elsewhere is is almost impossible to compete in the global market. I sure don't have the answers, but it should help if everyone could try and buy North American products whenever they can. We'll be giving our children and so forth a future if we do.

Some weird stuff going on. Read in the paper the other day about GM and Chrysler thinking about merging.

When is the last time you saw someone standing in a Wal-Mart checking to see where the product was made? doesnt happen anymore. It did back in the steel crisis though. Our culture has taught us to buy whatever brand saves us a buck and it doesnt matter where it came from. Thats a real shame.

Toyota can make claims about built in the US but take a look at the big picture. Look at the company as a whole and over 60% of the parts in American made Toyotas are still from Japan. Where does the profit go? Its just my opinion but this country needs a healthy dose of patriotism and loyalty.

Nothing pisses me off more than seeing a Honda Civic with a "show your American pride" bumper sticker. I will buy American until there isnt any other choice.

Who really makes the Duramax engine, is all Isuzu, all GM, or a combination of the two?

I have no klew where you got that info from, but it's BS.

By law, the US parts content percentage must be listed on the Mulroney (window) sticker.

Go visit a Toyota dealer, eyeball some of the window stickers and get an awakening.

The Tundra parts content is over 70%, the Camry is 77%, which is one of the highest percentages of any vehicle (Ford, GM, whatever) sold in the US.

My made in Mexico Ford Fusion parts content is 30%.

I'm no fan of Toyota, but I am a fan of factual info.

I suggest you do a little research first, instead of posting fiction.

'69's wife Gloria here.

Toyotas US/Canada (why they don't include Mexico is beyond me, after all, Mexico is in North America) content, as a whole, is 46%............... and is some of the lowest of all manufacturers. You cannot look at a few models only. Also understand that many of their sub assemblies are assembled in the US, but the parts come from outside NA. Toyota is very good at spin, and parts content is some of their finest................ well, that and the idea that all Toyotas run on rainbows and sunshine.

Your Fusions US/Canada content is so low, because of the supplier park that was built by the Hermosillo plant. These are mainly US suppliers, but, supplier parks save everyone money, and allow Ford to make a profit on this car.

Once again, I have a big problem with the US/Canada content. It should be North American content.

BTW, I am that person at Walmart, looking at where something is made. It does still mean something. I would gladly pay $9.95 for a set of nail clippers made in the US. However, the only thing available is $1.97 China junk. I don't want China junk, and avoid it whenever possible. It is pretty sad, but I actually get happy when I see Made in Mexico, or Made in Taiwan. Anything is a major step up from China.

Finally, Shore, good luck on the possibility of a Titan, if you couldn't get a Ford truck. The Titan is going to cease to exist, and will just be a rebadged Dodge Ram.

Yes, I am a major motorhead, and follow the auto manufacters closely.

Upcoming Titan = reskinned Ram made in Mexico.

As I understand it, the truck will retain its existing powertrain, so it's more than just a re-badged Ram.

Current Titan models are available nationwide with discounts ranging from $10.5 to $11.5 off MSRP. The NA content is around 66%. Titans are made Mississippi..now.

Excepting Rams, which are available with up to 15K in discounts, that's far more in the way of discounts than Ford and GM offers.

The GM "Employee Pricing for Everyone" is nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

The trucks were actually cheaper (around here, dunno about elsewhere), before GM rehashed this program.

Toyota is offering a 5K discount on Tundra's. The sales are so poor, the Toyota dealers told Toyota USA recently to stop sending them Tundras.

AutoNews just reported that Toyota shuttered their new 1.2 billion buck assembly plant in San Antonio for 4 weeks. It had everything to do with poor sales, nothing to do with a model change.

Why I bother tracking pricing on all this stuff is beyond me...but I do.

I bought a car cover from Wally World several years ago. It's the only time I've ever shopped there. The local store is just 4 miles away, but most of what Wally sells is made in China, and other Asian countries.

The same thing is true for Target, K-Mart, Kohl's and most other major retailers. Lowe's and Home Depot are other examples.

Stopped at L.L. Beans's outlet store in Maine while "Down East" on vacation several years. I was surprised when I started reading the labels on the goods. Made damn near everywhere but here.

If you know of, or can find a store in the US that sells American made goods..specifically US made goods, lemme know.

I don't shop for clothing at any of the above stores, one reason is..they don't carry my size.

I have to shop at the OverTall, OverFed stores for clothing. Yup, you guessed it...most of the goods are made elsewhere.

The only reason I push for people to buy vehicles from the Big Three is because they need help. If the Domestics were not in the position they are in now, I more than likely would not be near as biased as I am now against the asian big three. (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and I guess I'll include Hyundai/Kia) There is no longer an excuse for buying from the asians because the domestic's products match or beat the asians in every aspect. I care deeply about Ford, GM, and Chrysler and not buying from them does not help them one bit. Now, I don't think any you want to see these amazing companies die do ya'll?
