cam break-in

I have thumper p&p heads, gt40 intake w/1" spcr, and a new cam, along with the junkyard maf conversion i'm going to be putting in my truck soon. I don't want to have a problems while breaking in the cam and am not 110% positive that i'll have the MAF correct on the first shot.

The cam is however comp compatible w/114* LSA(comp 35-308-8) but it will also be installed with 4* adv ICL @ 106*. do you think along with the other upgrades that the SD system with run well enough to have a good cam break-in, then i'll just do the MAF afterwards.

thanks,

I normally wouldn't bump, but this one is kinda important. How much performance has someone else put into their 5.0 with the stock SD configuration. And it still ran decent before MAF-conversion or chip/tune.

Roller cams don't require a breakin.

None what so ever? So as long as it is lubed up n' installed properly it'll be fine? And no need for the before and after oil changes?

I take it this is well known and my question was stupid one, and that's why i didn't get any responses.

thanks paul

Don't worry about breaking in the cam if it is a roller. I would change the oil before you start it up for the first time as there is probably coolant in the crankcase from the head swap. I would then change the oil after 500-1000 miles and call it good.

That's right, lube the cam when installing in the block, and dunk the roller lifters in a bucket of oil the day before installing them so they are full. Does your motor already have the roller cam setup with the spider and dogbones?
