Manual To Automatic

Heres my dolly lama,
Ive got a 99 F350 Dually Western Hauler 7.3 with a 6 speed thats in need of Syncros , and the clutch is a little hard to push. So it makes it all but impossible for my Wife wife to learn how to drive. I was thinking of getting a doner truck and doing a change over to automatic.
i see them around for 3k and less so the price is right. I use to be a mechanic but never on diesel's so I need to ask a few questions.
#1. What tranny's are compatable
#2 I see my tranny has coolant lines running to the radiator on my current trans., so do I still need to change the rad.?
#3. Are there any tranny's out there that will work that dont require a computer change?
The reason I ask is because my computer apparently has a performance code in it from The P.O. and I dont want to loose it.(My truck kicks ***) and my family and I really enjoy filling Ricers cars with Pepper , we figure they want us to enjoy there rap crap music and pissed off bumble bee muffler the we should probably share our Fire breathing Dragon with them.

#4. How about the starter?
OR Should I Just Rebuild the 6 and refab the clutch so she can shift it.

Your choices:

C6. Saddle yourself with a non-OD 3 speed. You'll get used to it....

E4OD. Needs a computer.

Coolant? Not sure what's flowing there--does your 6 gear use ATF?

You'll probably want an aftermarket cooler. Plumb to that first, then back to the stocker, then to the trans. That way the fluid is at the proper temp even in light load cold weather situations.

The C6 needs no computer, and the E4OD can use a stand-alone controller. Not free, but available.

fwiw I'd fix the six....
