Hi , my first time here. I have a 7.3 diesel with a small random miss under low rpm pulling. I have replaced the injectors, looked at the IDM,Replaced the LH uvc wires & gasket. This truck runs worse on a foggy morning. It feels like the plug wires are bad?? Thanks T.Tolle
Welcome to FTE, Tony.
.
Does the miss feel like it is confined to just one cylinder, or is it more random than that?
Reason I am asking is the camshaft position sensor is notorious for causing all kinds of erratic behavior.
Have you gone in for that recall yet?

Or checked the wiring connector on the CPS? Welcome to FTE.

Can't help you if you do not answer us back. Guess that is sort of a welcome to FTE from me.
This is a random miss sometimes two or three in a row, I have changed the cps several times , & markadeck I look at my computer about once a day. I am an outdoors guy. My truck runs like it is out of time a little.I have a spare CPS in the glove box & I have swapped them out, I am wondering what sends the IDM a signal to fire?? I am going camping & will not have access untill Monday. T.Tolle
Just curious, why did you only replace one side of the wiring harness when you have done all eight of the injectors?
This is meant to be a friendly inquiry, trying to get to the cause of the miss.
.
Another idea that comes to mind is the main wiring harness, right where it passes over the left side valve cover sometimes gets chafed from rubbing there.

Oh and don't mind Mark's punchy posts, he is our resident grumpy old man.
He really is trying to help.

Another thought; is this low rpm miss only when the engine is cold, or also happening when the engine is fully warmed up?
I had a shop replace the injectors & he said the wiring was good. I replaced the driver side wireing & gasket in the campground - $200 , to see if it would make a differance?- no. This (miss - vibration ) is hot or cold, more noticable when under load. I just got back from a 140 mile trip pulling my 28.8 fifth wheel & think this may be a drive line problem. There is almost a constant vibration while under load. Now I will list all the things done so far to the driveline. Nwe U joints about two years ago (greaseable type), new front wheel bearings & rotors 40,000 miles ago, rearend grease change, new torque converter last week, just changed the transfer case fluid, checked the splines in the driveshaft last week. Yea I have been chasing this problem for a while. There is a click every now & then when from park to drive & go pedal pushed. I am thinking of taking out the drive shaft having it checked , taking the tail end of the transfer,to look for a spline problem,& check the rearend for loosness. I would really like to find this problem, it seems every time I do an upgrade for power it won`t last long???

Sounds like you may have some spline stub and slip yoke wear or if LWB the carrier bearing which can cause a slight whipping action thus giving a viberation under load
A good greasing may help but if bad enough wear the stub and yoke will have to be replaced
the click when going into gear could also be the splines
