I made a parts run this week and the guy had some running boards that I got thrown in with the other parts I bought from him. These are pretty much throw-aways around here but recalling this thread I picked them up and will offer them to anyone who wants to pay the shipping. Two of them were on a wrecked truck and one is fairly straight. No rust, other than surface rust, on any of them. Here's a pic of the group, I have more pics if anyone is interested in seeing them shot me an email or PM...
I just picked up a pair "used" (WELL used) running boards for a song and was
wondering IF there was a way to tell if they originals or re-pops???
I'm working on photos...plesse be paitent...by the way local here in MI...
Plymouth to be exact...this dude dumped his rat-rod project & still has one
right-front steel fender for sale...needs a little tender-lovin'-care...but not
too bad...about 80 bucks...anatennae hole in fender top to be filled & some
mounting hole cleanup but all-in-all pretty stight...email me if interested &
I'll put you in touch...THANKS in advance...
I think they look pretty good. I have worked on and brought back a lot worse. I wish I could find a deal like that. I looked at your truck pics and I noticed you have a tail gate fron the older trucks with the FORD in script. I also would like to do that with mine.

Thanks dave...that tailgate was on the truck when I bought it...the more I
think about it... the more I realize I like also...the previous owner said he
thought it was from a '53...then again, he said alot of "things" come to think
of it ...it's pretty beat-up when ya get up close to it...I'd really like to
try & save it though...just a little different...I didn't REALLY notice it until
I got the truck home to tell the truth...being my first Effie and all...
I think that style tail gate is from a '52 or earlier. I expect there are some experts on here that could verify the origin of that style. I can buy a repop of that style panel for the tail gate but they are expensive. I might do that and fab up the rest of it.
I am always looking for running boards and doors and hoods---and for that fact--fenders----I have alot of trucks to finish and running boards are a rare commodity around Ohio.....Bill
