Buying an engagement ring
Have any of you bought colored diamonds? Specifically black, pink, or blue.....the b/f and I are looking for engagement rings. I want to go less traditional so I figure colored diamonds are perfect. I've suggested sapphires to save money but he wants me to have diamonds. Anyway, I'm looking for opinions and suggestions for buying colored stones.
Here are some of the rings I like just to give you an idea:
Sapphire & Diamond:

Black Diamond:

Blue Diamond:

Pink Diamond:

And yes, most of these are Ebay pics. I'm trying to get ideas then I'm going to see a jeweler about a one-off design.
I've only found one ring in the jewelry stores that I am absolutely crazy about. Literally when I saw it it took my breath away. (some of you may be scratching your heads right now but I love simple and unique) It is a limited production Noor so it's not going to be something everyone is wearing. I tried it on with a diamond and Sapphire band and it was stunning but I don't know if it's really engagement ring material. It's a $4500 ring but we can get it closeout from Whitehall Jewelers for around $1000 and it's certified by GIA:

two pink sapphires on the outside (your heart enveloping his)
or that could be reversed if so desired......
and then a diamond, sapphire band......rotating pink and blue every other with diamond in between each~~~
NOW THAT sounds gorgeous.....

personally, I am all for more simplicity.....ya wanna ask me to marry you.....make a ring out of a bread bag tie......or a key ring band.......be creative.....THAT would get my attention far quicker than a ring with a rock on it, and it means so much more when the thought is put into it......been that route, truly hate the waste......and NO, this isnt a hint for Paul......he already knows how I feel

I told him I don't want anything extravagant, just simple. Hell a sterling silver shank w/ a CZ would be fine with me! The way I see it the money he's going to put toward a ring could be used more effectively in other areas, but he says thats nonsense and I should have a decent ring. He really is a keeper!
