I have had a farm trailer for years with an old bed welded directly to this old
chevy closed(torque tube)driveshaft rearend and now one of the wheel bearings has gone out and I,m not sure how to remove the axle. It is five bolt and probably from a car or half ton. I took rear insp plate off and removed what looks like main bearing cap on the offending side. The backing plate by the brake assembly seems to be riveted on. anyone??
Nevermind. I smartened up since last nite. It comes out like any gm with the block between spider gears. Remove the bolt, slide out the pin, remove block and expose the clips on end of axle.
