So I was talking to my old man tonight and he was saying that him and a co worker were talking and he was told that there was a certain years where the 302 block was not made well. Does anyone know where I can find how to find out if the engine I bought is one of them. Or does anyone know what years were bad, and what vehicles they were in. I have one out of a 70's model RV if thats any help.

Never heard of a bad 302 engine, but 1970/72 351C 4V's w/4 bolt mains had a problem with sand casting holes in the block's valley area.
Ford sent out a "campaign" letter to dealers advising them of the problem and how to fix it.
Here's what the fix entailed: Ford advised the dealers to mix and pour this: C6AZ-19554-A into the holes.
C6AZ-19554-A .. Metallic Plastic Sealer Kit / "Used to repair cylinder front cover and cylinder block" / Kit consists of (1) can-metallic resin, (1) jar-hardening agent.
The quality of castings were not up to par from 75-84 in 302's. You can tell what year you have by looking right above the starter, (you may have to take it off) and getting the casting codes off the block.
Even though quality was down in those years , the blocks are perfectly fine unless you are trying to build a max HP motor.
The heads were not the best performance wise around this time frame. Again, something that really only pertains to performance, all the 302's were built well for longevity.
