Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. My '96 ext. cab Ranger [155,000 miles] has a water leak in the front, on the passenger side. I haven't been able to pin point it, yet. I had the windshield replaced, but the leak is still there . At least my wife can see better at night with the new windshield.
Where else could it be?
to rule out the heater core, you could pull the line under the hood and plug it off so that there is no water going in it. Of course you wouldnt have a heater then, but you could find out if that is the prob then get a new one
Oops, I should have stated this is rain water.
FYI, I've had to replace the heater core in the past [ at 45,000 ]. The core is encapsulted within the heater box and doesn't leak into the interior, it only leaks into the engine compartment. This was a design change, new in '96. It was a big job, I had to disassemble the heater box. A nice Saturday project.
Thanx for the replies.
If you get rainwater on the passenger side floor, try to look up at the base of the windshield from underneath the glove box. You may have to remove the glovebox... I found that on my old truck the paint was coming off, and the sheetmetal was rusted due to leakage between two pieces that were spot welded together. Under the edge of the plenum cover over the heater air intake, I could see the top of the two pieces that were leaking.
I had to sit in the seat upside down to be able to look at the inside joint, and then looked under the passenger end of the plenum cover with the door open to be able to see the joint. Very hard to visualize...
I used a popsicle stick (IIRC) to goozy some RTV silicone onto the joint.
Took carpets/pad out and let it dry in the sun for about 3 days (soaking..) and then removed all the paint that had floated loose under the carpet, dried and painted.
All this after owning the truck for years, and the dealer 'fixing' the leak that had been there from the factory.
Mine was the third brake light gasket, on the back of the cab. Everytime it rained I had a puddle on the pass. floor, thankfully I have vinyl floors.

You guys have given me great info.
I'm gonna take the garden hose and try to isolate the source of my leak. It rains so little here lately, that I don't think about this problem. This is the wife's daily ride and she hardly ever lets me use it.
i had the same problem, the dealer did rust repair on the top of my door jams behind the door gasket and re-installed the upper gasket with part of it over the inner door seal near where the mirror is on the door, and it was very odvious to find when i turned the hose on my truck with inside. It was on th both doors and left an inch of water in my truck, i had to remove the seats and carpets and shampoo it and leave it in the sun for 5 days to dry.
