We had two remotes when we purchased our 2001 F250 Super Duty with factory keyless entry. However, we lost one of the two remotes. Today I purchased a new remote from the dealer and I was told to turn the ignition switch off and on 10 times until I hear the door lock. Then I was supposed to press on the new remote and then on the old remote. Well, the ignition off/on did work with the door locks locking on the 8th time but the next two steps did not work. Can someone advice how to properly program the second Ford remote I just bought?
You will have to program both remotes at the same time, if you only do one, it will only work with that one remote. I believe you only entered basic programming mode, you need to select what you wish to program. Try pressing the lock button after the locks cycle the first time. Then press the lock button on each remote.
Thanks for your response. So here it what I understood from your message: Turn ignition switch off and on until doors lock cycle. Then press the door lock button on the truck door. Then press a button from each remote. Right?
On my 2003, you cycle the key 8 times in 10 seconds. The doors lock/unlock and then you hit a button on each remote. After each remote is pushed, the locks cycle. Programming mode only lasts 20 seconds and I did not have to hit the lock button on the door. This may not help, but that was the procedure for mine.
