My gear shift is sloppy and hard to get into gear. I am thinking it is the synchronizer. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know what the cost to fix might be? It is on a 2004 F350 power stroke diesel

There was someone esle with a sloppy shift on an 08.. I told him to check under the shift boot.. there are 2 bolts that could be loose.. they hold the shifter to the tranny..
That fixed his issue, not sure if it is yours, but worth checking out..
That was it. Turns out the lower bolt had never been tightened. It was only threaded about 1/2 way through and I had to thread it the rest of the way to tighten it. The top was really loose too. I fixed both and am no longer having a problem! Thanks! Saved me a service fee and I only had to spent about $15 in tools!

That's good to hear.. Glad it worked out for you..
I guess they haven't been tourquing those at the factory..
I have a similar problem with my shifting lever. I have no problems shifting gears, but the lever is rather lose. When I say lose, it doesn't sit center on the Drive letter in the display. Is there a way to tighten it up?? I checked on the tranny and that is tight so I assume its something on the steering column area.

Thoughts?
We were talking about a Manual tranny issue..
It sounds like yours is an automatic and I believe others have had that problem and there are many posts about it..
