My son has a 1999 F150 4X4 short bed step side with the small V-8, that he wants to put true dual exhausts (manifold Back) on. What are the dangers of removing the catalytic converters, besides the legalities? Will it mess up the computer or effect the preformance or reliabilty of the truck?
Oh dear not again... not to be rude but PLEASE just do a search on it.
There have been a few topics about this same exact subject lately... unfortunatly some member(s) have ruined all these threads by posting very irritating posts again and again and again.
I'm just trying to avoid another flame war.
Yeah lots of people yap and yap oh dont do it is illegal only thing if you remove them it will throw the check engine light on you will need MIL eliminators to get rid of the check engine light or high flow cats insted
Yeah, just cut the exhaust off before the y-pipe comes together. There is nothing illegal about that unless you live in California. Just leave the stock cats in place. The runs would not be equal length however, which partially defeats the purpose of true duals. If it were my truck, I would just use a dual outlet muffler, there are a few really good kits out there.
