PreRunner Bumpers

Does anyone know where I can get a set of prerunner-style bumpers for my 93 F-150? I'm looking for full replacement bumpers, not the add-on type from ProComp or FabTech. The only places I've been able to locate that offer them want an arm and a leg for them ($700 each!!) minimum.

I find it hard to believe one can't find them cheaper when James Duff and similar companies carry them for Rangers and Toyota's for around $250 ea.

Hey, traildawg..

I've run into the same problem. I've looked and looked, and it seems like they're all literally custom-built. camburg.com sels them for about that much. I was just gonna take a welding class at my local community college and have the tubing purchased and bent (for the parts that will be bent) somewhere locally. figure for the tubing and bending it would be relatively cheap. the only thing I wonder about it my welding ability (but not really worried there.)

lemme know if you run into anything, and I'll keep you in mind if I find anything.

Check out http://harborfreight.com and do a search for "bender" and "notcher"

They have a 12-ton tubing bender for $75 and a tubing notcher for $25. I doubt you'd have over $150 in materials to buy, so in reality you can make your own ALOT cheaper (and mine if ya buy them :P)

Whoa! that's really friggin cool! And you could make your own to sell to friends and people and stuff. Now, the only problem is welding. I don't think you'd wanna use steel cuz that much steel would be heavy. I think the reason the ones you can buy are so expensive is becasue they are aluminum and you need to use a TIG
welder with Al (and that's supposed to be a skill of welding masters or something). Might still look for a place to do it for me, just a normal welding place that can make stuff if I give them the plans. I can design it in AutoCAD2K, so maybe I can find some non-offroad place to do it.

still searching...amazed no one else replied to this post....

Actually, most are made with Chrome-moly steel. It's stronger and lighter than regular steel, not to mention more expensive. I wouldn't recommend using aluminum as it's even more expensive and harder to work with when welding. I really don't think the weight difference would be that different using regular steel either. Just don't go hog-wild on tubing wall thickness.

If you want to se a kewl setup, check out http://www.autofab.com/front.htm THey have a kewl kit for the front frame horns, but it's mucho dinero also.

Thanks for the Auto Fab link Those are coool pics! I've been looking for a reasonably priced bumper like this for my '90 F350 Now I think I'll weld one up on my own.
