Hey guys I was just curious what everybody has for toolboxes for these trucks. Im just getting an idea what to get. Tell me what you got likes an dislikes. Thanks for the help. Hopefully somebody will reply. I havent had to good of luck on other forums here.
I have a Delta Champion aluminum single lid box. Nice box, lots of room and it sits flush with the cab so I can still look into the bed. Not the most expensive one on the market by any means and I'm not a contractor. I just use it as a place to keep extra stuff and sometimes luggage when the cab is full of people.
I use a Delta box also, only its the low profile model as I pull a 5th wheel trailer. It will still hold plenty of stuff. My only complaint about is the lock is pretty cheesy, but it keeps the casual thief out.
I'd get a box that sits flush. I had a box that sat up about 4-5" over the bad and even with being 6' tall I still had trouble seeing over it at times when backing up.
i was in a hurry to get one, so i dropped the $500 and got a weathergaurd.
it is a great box. the only complaint I have is that it is really deep (lots of room). it doesn't lend itself very well for adding an auxiliary tank. i finally found a 40 gallon that will fit. i should have waited and spent a little more money and got a toolbox/tank combo, but you can't beat a weathergaurd.
My is kind of hard to see in the picture but its similar to Glenns. I bought it off a buddy of my for $100. I like how it fits under my tonneau and The tonneau can unsnap from the front which makes it easy to get to and it keeps it out sight.
not a good pic of the tool box..but its chrome diamond plate 24" wide rail to rail long and goes all but 2 inches to the floor...i could sleep in this thing..2 side trays and one 24x24 x 4 iches deep sliding tray in the middle... ill get a beter pic later on...all our luggage goes in there for long trips and still plenty of room for my tools...
I have a decent Delta tool box from my old truck I cannot decide wiether to modify or take off my chrome bed rails or get an inbed deal like Glenn's and Dereks.
I've got a Ranch Hand tool box. Made out of diamond plate steel (not the thin sheet metal stuff). It's heavy, but when you put the round disc locks on it, the only way to break in is with a cutting torch.
I use them for the work trucks too. I've got 2 boxes someone tried to get into with a crowbar. All it did was bend the lip a little. Sorry I don't have a pic, but it looks like most other over the rail toolboxes that are black.
Thanks once again for all the pics an input. I have something to refer to when I make up my mind an what to do. I figured if i was spending good money i want to make sure i get something good that will hold up an look nice. I have had my truck for 3 years an no tool box. Needed one a long time ago. I just have been throwing things in the back in to other boxes I put back there. As usual this forum an you guys rock .
