Turning it down would make it sound a little loby, but I would be happier to use big pipes and a deep muffler. On the v10, dual 3" or single 5" should do the trick without messing with the idle. Remember you have two more cylinders than the big blocks, so the exhaust pulses will not be timed like the v8. I wouldn't think you would hear that pause.
When i was putting on my cold air at first start it idled at like 500 and sounded GREAT!! but has since changed to the normal 800 or so. So im shooting for a lower idle. I already have 3" Glasspack and love the sound of the exhaust just want that old camed motor sound!
You would need a custom diablo tune to get the idle down. If you buy a tune, make sure you get one with a normal idle in case the alternator doesn't charge well at 500rpms.
