fast idle adjust

My '72 302 with 2 barrel carb. and automatic choke runs too fast and too long on fast idle. What do I need to adjust so it idle slower and so I can trip it off fast idle sooner. Right now it has to be almost completely warmed up before it will go down to regular idle speed. Maybe this is normal.

Thanks in advance. BTW it is all stock with a non-electric choke and stock exhaust manifolds with heat tube.

fast idle adjust

Check to see :
1)if the choke linkage isn't Binding
clean & lubricate

2)if the choke housing is Indexed correctly
The index mark on the housing corresponds the to the mark on the assembly.

3)if the fast idle screw is set to far.
Access it from the back of the housing assembly toward the linkage.
