Just wanted to follow up. That good suspension/steering shop got my truck this morning and almost immediately called me saying that they took OFF the stabilizer and the wander is gone.
I was thinking about removing the stabilizer because it is essentially a shock that dampens disturbances. If the stabilizer is too stiff it will limit all movement, even the good kind (returning to center). Like I said, my steering was never sloppy...almost too tight. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow, but I'm hoping that was it.
Just wanted to touch back in. The wander is almost completely gone after removing the stabilizer. Makes perfect sense to me. However, bumps are felt more now. Overall I am satisfied with this repair. It was the stabilizer restricting steering inputs and the truck's natural tendency to return to center.
In fact, this company has worked closely with Rancho to help them better their products.
Did you get to keep the removed stock stabilizer?.... i just wonder how it moved after it was removed like binding or stuck. Did you try installing a new stabilizer?
