computor programmer for v10 "X"

I have a '03 Limited Excursion with the 6.8l v10, am a 110% happy with the truck, but am interested in getting a programmer to boost the output and shift pattern for towing purposes. Any suggestions in which brand and well as what changes are noticeable as well much change in fuel mileage.Any help, advice, or input would be appreciated.Nunomad

Your best bet would be to go to a local mustang shop and have them do a tune on it.
They will discuss with you what you are looking for and the shift points and all that and fine tune everything for you. Much better then any out of the box tune you can get anywhere.

I would also recommend using a mechanical shift improvement scheme. Bumping line pressure is okay for limited boost, but tweaking the valve body will also flow more volume. I used to run race 1-2, hard 2-3 and 3-4 shifts in my tune, but I am much happier now that I have a factory tech valvebody.

Software comes down to how involved you want to get. Canned tunes are decent when you want something you upload and do very little tweaking too. The Semi Custom market is big, but it's pretty much the same as canned tunes, your using the tuners experience and hoping your truck is the same. Dyno and custom tunes are the way to go, where you have to do quite a bit of tuning, but when your done you have a tune built only for your truck.
