4*2 - 4*4 conversion
I have a 73 f 250 4*4 so I have most of the part I need , but don’t realy know what involve .
I know about the drive shaft but what other surprises?
Thanks, gai.
1:is the engine the same? if so then you will be in fair shape.
2:you will need to bolt the tansfer case to the new trans.i believe that that year has a divorced trans (this is good)but you will need to measure the distance from the back of trans to the front of transfer case and drill new holes so the brackets bolt up.(you mite get lucky and it mite me predrilled)
3:you will need to grind or torch the spring mounts off your donor truck and carfully measure were to bolt it up to the new one.this is critical because if you dont get it exact you will have alinment nightmares forever.
4:you will need to unbolt the floor pan from the old truck and keep all the clips as you will need them for the new truck when you cut the floor board out for thr floor pan.oh you willneed to keep the old pan that you unbolted from the old truck as well.
5:now after this is all done and bolted up and in place you will need a new driveshaft for the rear.the one that came out of the old truck may work if they are both long beds.if not you will have to have one made.not a big deal.just something that you wouldnt think about till it was all over.
good luck i hope this helps ya.
