Does anyone have a set of rear springs sitting around that they can measure. I'm going to look at a set of 06' Superduty rear springs and want to be able to measure them and find out if they will fit before I buy them. So if I can get the width and end to end measurement.
I tow a trailer daily and I'm tired of the saggy rear end. When I was towing with my 2500 dodge life was great. Now, it's way too soft. I thought it would be fine when I bought it because it's based off the 250/350. Little did I know that they softened the suspension that much.
For $50 I would see how it works. The Ex may have more weight over the rear than a SD, but the spring packs are smaller (at least this is what I understand based on reading).
While both are of the semi-eliptical type, the Excursion rear springs are more of the conventional type you see in diagrams discussing springs. A long main leaf, with a succession of smaller leafs, all with tapered ends. Avery conventional spring that gives the smoothest ride.
The SD type has a long main leaf, with a sucession of leaves that are as close to full length as practicable.
You might findit interesting that in the Super Duty world, some folks find the ride in their trucks objectionable and actually switch out to Excursion rears springs!!
