Maybe his wife didn't like it. Mine wouldn't ride in my pickup because it was too loud. That's why my restoration is a little more plush. Also, it wasn't "shiny." If it wasn't my grandpa's truck, I probably would have caved to the pressure and sold it. In a young married couple, the wife holds all the cards =).
my girlfriend wont get in my truck either... but it has nuthing to do with the loudness.... theres 2 reasons....
1. the truck tends to get more time with me then my girlfriend
and
2. she things i need to show off.... she doesnt understand that ive already got her... so i dont need to spin my wheels... speed or attempt to drift it....
**sigh** the wheels where bald BEFORE i bought them... i swear it wasnt me.... ohh those 2 black marks out of the drive way? that was umm my grandma.... ohh yeah the speedo needle is bent from this huge bug.... flew threw my window and landed on the gas and just pressed it down.... thats why.... ohh thats nuthing... its sapost to sit like that.... no yeah maybe we should flip it back on to its wheels... wanna go for a drive? **sigh**
anyways.... thats the reason why Heather wont ride in Fluffy.... but i might have convinced her to drive it some day soon... that should be fun.... manual breaks... manual steering... manual clutch... manual transmission... and a sticky gas peddel.... and a un-experinced driver =] wish me luck when that day comes...

im going with a stand alone computer here is a link to the site Most Popular Products - Baumann Electronic Controls, LLC . its going to cost me more but gives me more control. this is what ive been doing for the last month. mostly been doing research on how i want to do things. im going to bolt the tranny to the engine before a tear it apart and fit everything to the truck. here are a couple more websites that might help you with your tranny.
Did your valve body have wires running to each solenoid or did it have a plastic circuit board that connected to them all? The only reason I ask is the plug in on the right side of the transmission is the same but the wires are not in the same order and there are fewer wires on the 1998 and up transmissions. The 1998 and up has the plastic circuit board, where the 1997 and prior have the wires.
billy12360, Could also be that her daddy told her that if she got into that truck with that idiot she would have no home to return to. He might not be impressed with your black marks in his driveway. just speculating of course

there are no black marks in or out of the drive way... i cant afford to replace my already bald tires in the rear... so i dont need to make it worse.... LOL... her dad doesnt know anything about me anyways hahahaha maybe someday though with a nice built 460 in there... i will leave them black marks taking her out on a date out of the drive way... her dad should be impressed that i have a skill that will saport his daughter hahahaha... i could be either a drag racer.. or a mechanic... either way... i will make money hahaha

my self...
youve got a nice truck there... and for cheap....
you know, I was married only a year and a half when I bought my truck... although I was smart enough to convince my father in law we needed to buy 3 of these and restore them... so he bought the 3 trucks. I told my wife that I was going to make the truck " wife " freindly... which means.
I put in an automatic... a em.. modified c6... I put in a new engine.. ahh.. a 5.0 HO... power steering.. donor from the junk yard... disc brakes.. whole front assembly from a donor and fresh napa parts... quiet exahuast.. via electric cut off butterflies! so I can open er up when I want to. Granted the old ride isnt on the road yet. but Ive been able to keep the ride in progress by making it wife friendly and cool. now married 3 years. and now she is all for it. telling me diff things she likes.. and doesnt... Im painting the truck semi gloss black.. she hated it at first.. but I showed her a bunch of rides with it.. the stories behind it.. and Im putting my dads texaco shop logo on the doors... so it has a sentimental value... all things that make it cool to her. and my the parents/ inlaws. its all in rallying the troops.

That's a Funny story, but, it's the exact same thing with my wife, now she keeps telling me to hurry up and finish HER truck.
