looks like it from everything i have seen. but i haven't found the airbag for less than $100. seems like a lot of money to spend just for that. think i'd rather spend it on an 08 console or something. maybe more gauges, lol.
I think the 97-04 heritage 150s, and expeditions as well as navigators had the same steering wheels as the super duties. The 150 and expedition shared a lot of parts back then anyway. The only problem you will run into is if you get a wheel with the climate controls and radio controls. They won't function unless you swap clocksprings, add EATC, and get a new radio. The wheel will fit though, just no fancy buttons.

Yeah it's not worth it to spend a whole lot of money on it. I've seen the woodgrain steering wheels on ebay though and I will get one when my leather wrapped one wears out.

The cruise control buttons have the the same resistance for the '99-'01 diesels, but they changed in the '02 diesels. The '99-'01 diesels are: coast-120 ohms, set/accel-680 ohms, resume-2200 onms, off/on- 0 ohms. The '02 diesels are off-120 ohms, decel-180 ohms,
set- 300 ohms, resume- 1000 ohms, on- 2200 ohms. You can swap out the cruise switches though. They can be had cheap on ebay. The molex plug was a different size on the navigator wheel, but you can snip and solder your old one if you want. I scavenged one from an old computer as I sold my old wheel and wanted it to remain 100%.
If you have an aftermarket head unit, you can buy interfaces that make the audio buttons functional. Also, with a newer version of the 6-disc in dash unit you can get the factory harness to make it a plug and play deal. I have the 6-disc in dash, but I'm not sure if it has the port for the wheel controls. Since I have no need or interest for the redundant hvac and radio controls, I haven't researched that part of it. All I did was wire up the backlights on that side so at night it looks the way it should.
The airbag from the Super Duty steering wheel fits the Navigator wheel, so it's a simple swap. No need to buy a new airbag.
Another thing that works really well, if the leather is just discolored and worn but not torn is to refinish it. I did that to my old wheel before swapping it out and it looked brand new. The stuff you want is called Colorbond leather dye... Colorbond - The best choice for automotive or marine plastic vinyl leather restoration and color Summit racing sells it for $12.95 a can , and it works awesome. They make it in every factory interior color so it matches perfect. I ended up two toning my old wheel as I had to color my airbag to match the Navigator wheel. I have Med Graphite leather which is really more of a light grey. The navigator wheel I bought is darker like my steering column and dash so it actually looks better. I was sceptical of any "leather dye" finish looking good or being durable, but Colorbond is awesome. My factory wheel still looked brand new over a year after I refinished it. This is the only photo I have of it, but it'll show you how the finish looks:

I'll be happy help anyone who has any questions about doing the swap. It's really a lot easier than you might think, and the quality of the Lincoln factory wheel is in my opinion far superior to any aftermarket wheels.
Sorry it took me so long to post this pic. I had to leave town unexpectedly for a job. Anyways, as it shows just a tad in the photo, I bought the wrong color dye for the airbag. I needed dark graphite, and I ordered medium dark graphite. I ordered it from Summit Racing this morning, so I'll post back in 3-4days with the way it should look.
At least this gives you an idea on how what I did looks. The wood is so nice for easy clean up. It doesn't matter how dirty your hands are. If it gets nicks in it, a quick spray of rattle can lacquer and its brand new again.
how easy is it to replace? i have been wanting to do this, but the airbag situation spooked me a little.
There is a minimum time after the batteries are disconnected that you need to wait before messing with airbags. Each manufacturer is different. IIRC Ford is somewhere around a 1/2 hour, but if you wait a couple of hours before starting work you shouldn't have any problem with the airbag in the wheel.
Actually Ford's shop manual says to disconnect the negative battery cables for one minute before working on it. I personally disconnect both positive and negative on both batteries and wait around 10 minutes before I'll touch one.
I've done around ten steering wheels on these trucks that way with no issues at all.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't trust just disconnecting the negative for a minute. I disconnect both cables on both batteries, turn on the lights, turn on the key, then let it sit for a while before I touch anything. Then I don't stick my face in front of the airbag just to be on the safe side while removing and handling.

I totally agree with you. I would hate for that sucker to blow up while in my hands. I carry it like like it's nitro. They can hurt you bad... and then when you done paying the doctor you have shell a hefty chunk for a new bag. I always do the headlight thing too, just in case. I've had mine off and on so much this last week I don't want to ever touch it again. It's awful dry here this time of year and static electricity can cause a big problem if you're not careful.
