Looking at two pickups, one is a 2005 without any upfitter switches the other is a 2006 with switches. My question is did they not have them in 05 and what is the advantage to having them??
Upfitter switches are just that. Switches for any additional accessories that you might want to add to your truck later. They can be bought for less than $200 and added on to most of the super duties. Almost positive they will work for 2005. I have a 2006 without the switches, but I will be adding a set later.
The upfitter switches were first availiable in 2005.
They are an option (not standard for any model) so some trucks were ordered with them and some without. They are easy to add if your truck doesn't have them.
The advantage to having them is you have 4 clean looking OEM style switches that can operate aftermarket powered mods. They are illuminated with the dash and have an amber light when they are on.
