Our local dealer is now offering two ways to handle door cracks.
1- Drill, weld, grind and paint.
2- If you really moan, you get a new door and a soon to be available reinforcing plate that will be installed in the door.
Has anyone else had these offers?
Reid, I guy I work with has a 98' f-150. I pointed out the problem to him. He had never noticed it until I showed him. He was not a happy camper. He went down to the dealer and raised hell. They offered to replace the entire door. He would have to leave the truck for a couple of days and they would not give him a temp vehicle. That was the only setback.
You can add me to the list of ford owner's with this problem. Once I saw an explanation of where the crack is located, it was very easy find. I'm going to the dealer today to discuss it. I'll keep everyone updated.
(By the way, the door is also rusting...after only 3 yr and 27,000 miles)
