Which engine will do the job a 5.4L or the 6.8L V-10 pulling a F350 extended 4x4 van with a bed and galley in it. I mean will the 5.4 do the job or moan and groan or is the 6.8L overkill or neccessary. No need to burn gas when I don't have to. Thanks for your help.

It's not so much the 5.4 "moaning and groaning" as it is the overdrive kicking in and out. However you don't say what type of driving you are doing. All highway, level or mountains, etc. A F350 is a lot of truck/van and generally designed for very heavy loads. A V10 is better suited for heavy loads then the 5.4. A 5.4 will suffice if you are not going to push the loads although the mpg may not be all that much higher.
