The old engine had a dead cylinder so I popped this new one in. All the electrical is from my old engine.
I'm having problems with the electrical. I have hooked something up wrong or something is missing, but I don't know what!
When I turn the truck on, it turns over fine but does not fire up.
As far as I know it is not sparking right. BUT that is not the reason i'm posting this.
When I turn the ignition on, the fuel pump should cycle on. IT DOES NOT. If I turn the truck over and then turn the key off the fuel pump cycles on, but stays on until I unhook the battery.
ANY IDEA'S?
Please point out where to look. And don't tell me to go look up a wiring diagram because honestly, i'm not smart enough to understand all those little lines! I do have a Haynes manual I bought that hasn't helped me much for this.
First check that the fuel pump relay isn't stuck closed. If that checks out then verify you have all the grounds properly attached to the motor, there should be a large one from the battery and possibly 2 or more smaller ones from the body and engine wiring harness to the intake manifold.
