Has anyone recieved this months Diesel Power with the write up of the IDM mod for an OBS PSD? I thought this was pretty interesting since it has been a rather big discussion as of the last month.
I believe that the guy that did all the extensive research and temperature tests, etc. actually stuck his truck on the dyno. I believe that is where they got there numbers.
I can't remember where I have seen that guys write up including dyno sheets.
A member in the OBS forum (IDMooseMan I believe) did some before/after tests with his truck on the dyno... if anyone is that interested they should PM him. He had a post about it, I'm too lazy to search for it
I read the article in Diesel Power, also. It didn't give any more info than what we already know about it from the forums. No real warnings about doing the mod, except the soldering part.
I did the 140v IDM mod about 5 months ago. No complaints. Better throttle response. No adverse effects that I can tell.
And after reading the link and abou the testing he did, it made me less fearful of soemthign going wrong. I did not do this mod for the longest time because I was not 100% sold on it and that it wouldn't cause damage. Not that it still can't but...
After talking with Dave and Scott when they did the "write up with pictures", I felt comfortable in doing this mod. I still think of the timing issue that Ernest brought up during its discussion, but have not seen any real world issues with this. Everything has been working out well. Knock on wood. LOL
