I would like to mount some off road lights behind my front grill. Basically the kind of lights that you would mount on a roll bar or something. But my problem is, I want to hook them up to the driving lights in the bumper. That way I dont have to install a new switch or anything. I can just turn the driving lights on and the off road lights will come on too. Has anyone done this? Or does anyone know an easier way?
ive had the itch to do this project as well, just not sure if i want to mount them behind or get a light bar? and then do you get the long range, driving, or floods? im leaning towards the long range 240k candlelight by kc......what brand are you guys using/planning on?
I've had a lot of the same questions. I would like to get a full brush guard eventually, but for now I'm just going to stick them behind the grill. I would like to put 4 lights on there. 2 flood and 2 long range. I haven't decided what brand yet, but my friends with KC really like them.
if you guys want to see how i set my lights up. send me an email address and ill send some pics. i have them behind the grill but i also had a friend make me a light bar. i havnt mounted the bar yet but you can get the idea of what it will look like.

IPF 7" 968's....comes with the best electrical IMO, and they are insanely bright.

I wonder if you have a problem with the heat coming from those lights. I had the same lights and a service tech at ford accidently turned my lights on and melted the light covers until the looked like rasins. Point is KC lights put out a lot of light and a lot of heat at the same time especially up close. I would mount them some where else. Just a suggestion
I toyed with the idea of making a lightbar, then saw these grills with the lights in them in a magazine and decided to cut holes in my grill and put the lights right in there. I havent had any problems with heat. I also just used a pair of cheap $20 tracotr floodlights from the farm and fleet, they light up th trails pretty well.
Also, i did unhook the driving lights in my bumper and run the wires up to the grill, so I didn't have to install a new switch, the driving lights are still in my bumper for now, but they aren't hooked up.
Good idea! I was talking about the lights behind the grill. If you remove whats in front of the light I think you will be just fine. I also dont think that flood lights like those put out the heat or light of a KC light, but you never know.
