Afternoon Dallas, Gary. Hope the wife is doing better Gary. Glad they could get her appendix removed on time, I've heard it can be nasty if they burst!
Henry Ford introduced the first mass-produced automobile on the market a century ago today, in 1908. The 2-seater Model T cost $825. By 1927, when the Model T was phased out, production had become so streamlined that dealers were able to reduce the price to $300. While Ford did not invent the assembly line, he made it so much more efficient that it revolutionized the industry. In the very early days, it took 12 hours to produce an automobile. By 1913, when Ford opened his new, more efficient Model T factory, it took only 93 minutes; by the time the last Model Ts rolled off the line in 1927, a car was produced every 24 seconds.
"The Model T is available in any color you choose, so long as it's black." — Henry Ford
Gottlieb Daimler and his assistant William Maybach had perfected a four-cycle internal-combustion engine by 1885 and had built four experimental vehicles by 1889. Karl Benz built his first car in 1886 and by 1891 had developed the automobile to the stage of commercial feasibility. In France, Emile Constant Levassor created the basic mechanical arrangement of the modern motorcar in 1891 by placing the engine in front of the chassis, making it possible to accommodate larger, more powerful engines. Charles E. Duryea and J. Frank Duryea of Springfield, Mass., were bicycle mechanics who built their first car in 1893 after reading a description of the Benz car in Scientific American four years earlier, in 1889.

Good Afternoon Nebraska. That's some good info there again Dallas. WOW. October already. I always say that every year because up here it seems like Spring weather sucks so I look forward to Summer so damn bad that when it's here, it flies by and now October is here and winter is right around the corner. I hate winter up here. Oh well, guess I'll have to hibernate in the garage.
Good evening truck fans. Well, my ride home from work today was interesting. My '97 is having issues! First, she lost her tailpipe, from the muffler back. Rusted right through, and then wrapped itself around the rear axle. It's now sitting in the bed. I also have a HIDEOUS squeak, that you can really here when you go from a standing stop. You can only here it when the truck is moving. Grand. So, looks like I'll be driving black for a few days!
