Happy Halloween everybody! I'm excited to get Arianna all dressed up in her Pirate outfit later today! And then we'll do a bit of trick'r treating with her. Then tomorrow night is the adult costume party! RoseAnn and I are both Cavemen lol Have a great weekend!
Yeah that's the oxygen mask and smoke goggles for that 1 in a trillion "oh shiit" kinda day. I pray I never have to really use one. The top one is a 2-piece unit; mask on first, then fumble to put the goggles on, hoping you remembered to fit your glasses in there. The lower pic is a 1-piece unit. Goes on very easily and quickly. For both masks, we squeeze the red buttons inward, and they pump air into the green hoses, expanding them. Then, throw the whole thing over your head, hope it's positioned right, and let go of the red triggers. All the air is sucked out of the hoses, and the mask is now FIRMLY seated on your face. That's why we're not allowed to have any facial hair in the airline industry; it could prevent the mask from sealing properly, letting in smoke or fumes.
I was departing Newark, NJ, about 6 years ago, at 6am. Still pitch black outside. Things were taking a long time getting off the ground, even though the weather was great. Someone on the frequency asked the controller why things were moving so slowly, and he replied "Got an emergency aircraft inbound. Smoke in the cockpit."
Dead silence on the radio for the next 7 minutes until the guy landed. I think we were all counting our blessings that it wasn't us.
Good evening everyone! Hope you all had a great night!
Got home less than an hour ago from trick r treating with the kids in my mom neighborhood. They got a crap load of candy, 1/2 a pillow case each... Lots of candy for my sweet tooth!!!!!!!
